Born in 1957 in Taichung County's Qingshui District, Chen Shi-hou grew up in the countryside surrounded by all sorts of insects, birds, cattle, chickens and ducks, as well as various aquatic creatures. Compared withother children, the young Chen often displayed a keener sense of observation and deeper sensitivities.

Eventually, he chose to become an artist and make painting a driving force for his professional career.

Chen once noted, "If you create with honesty and sincerity, your work will come naturally and resonate withother people." This is exactly what his artworks bring to audiences.
